Adding load balancer entries to oid2type_Field.conf

As of this writing, several new models of the F5 Load Balancer are not certified for
IP Availability Manager
. If your network contains F5 Load Balancers that are not listed in the
, you can add entries for those devices to the oid2type_Field.conf file.
To field-certify an F5 Load Balancer:
  1. Go to the BASEDIR/smarts/bin directory in the
    IP Manager
    installation area and type the following command to open the oid2type_Field.conf file:
    sm_edit conf/discovery/oid2type_Field.conf
  2. Add the following lines:
    <SystemOID>
    { TYPE = LoadBalancer VENDOR = F5Networks MODEL = BIG-IP CERTIFICATION = TEMPLATE CONT = F5-LoadBlncer HEALTH = F5-LoadBalancer INSTRUMENTATION: Environment = F5LBEnvMon:DeviceID Interface-Fault = MIB2 Interface-Performance = MIB2 Port-Fault = MIB2 Port-Performance = MIB2 }
  3. Save and close the file.
    The modified version of the oid2type_Field.conf file is saved to the BASEDIR/smarts/local/conf/discovery directory.
  4. Restart the
    IP Availability Manager
    in your
    deployment to implement your changes.
    Or, as an alternative to restarting the
    IP Availability Manager
    , issue the following command from BASEDIR/smarts/bin in the
    IP Availability Manager
    ’s installation area to implement your changes:
    sm_tpmgr -s
    <
    IP Availability Manager
    name
    >
    --reloadoid
